LCA is a small practice offering personalized architecture and interior design services. We have experience in residential, commercial and community based facilities with an emphasis on sustainable design. Our work in the Triangle and North Carolina includes libraries, restaurants, schools (K-12, Community College and University), places of worship and a variety of buildings that serve communities.

We are rooted in the modernist tradition of functional beauty, where design springs from its use and purpose. We are always mindful of the larger context, designing buildings that contribute to their surrounding environments, whether urban or rural.

Alison Croop

PROJECT MANAGER

Alison's path towards a career in architecture began at a young age when she helped her father build a tree fort in their backyard. The thrill of seeing her ideas become reality awoke a passion for design and building that she continued to nurture throughout her education. She received her Bacherlors in Architecture at Clemson University where she had the opportunity to study in Barcelona and New York City.

Taking a year off before graduate school, she moved to Raleigh where she fell in love with the rich history of modernist residential architecture in the Triangle area.

During her time at North Carolina State University, where she received her Masters of Architecture as well as the Energy & Technology Certification, she discovered a new passion for sustainability and became a LEED accredited professional. Before finding her place at Louis Cherry Architecture, she had also worked at another Raleigh firm primarily focused on large commercial projects.

Jessica Knesnik

ASSOCIATE

Jessica finds immense joy in the natural world and creating a space for humans to dwell and thrive in. Her early childhood experiences included spending countless hours in the woods building forts which fostered both her joy for nature and the built environment. To this day Jessica spends as much time as possible exploring and experiencing this beautiful world we live in. Every hike in the woods inspires her work on the drawing board.

Her curiosity about life and her constant desire to learn led her to pursue an education in architecture. She received a Bachelors in Architecture and Design from the University of Florida. She then attended a non-profit architecture internship program in Montana and then went on to practice at local firm in her home state of Florida. An opportunity to help teach undergraduate studios and acquire her Masters of Architecture led her to NC State here in Raleigh, where she has made her home and strong ties to the thriving creative community.

Jessica has found her place at Louis Cherry Architecture where she desires to be courageous in the field of design, pursing the creation of architecture that at its core is humanistic. Serving people through design is what propelled her education and career, a role she is grateful to be in.

Elizabeth Rhew

DESIGNER

Elizabeth was born and raised in North Carolina. She developed a love for drawing at a young age, and this led to her receiving a studio art degree from UNC Chapel Hill. During her time there, she spent a summer abroad in Italy, promptly falling in love with its rich history of art and architecture.

She then went on to pursue a master’s in architecture at UNC Charlotte, where she developed a keen interest in natural lighting, materiality, and humanitarian design. She is intrigued by the overlap between art and architecture, a relationship she hopes to explore further in her career.

Her free time is spread thin over a variety of hobbies, including puzzles, hiking with her dog, and drawing on anything that sits still long enough.
